Combustion Safety
The safety of your home is one of our highest priorities. We use our monitoring equipment to check for the presence of carbon monoxide. Did you know carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas? If it is in your home or business you have no way of knowing. We inspect all your appliances powered by propane or natural gas to make sure carbon monoxide is not a threat to your family or workplace.
Our inspectors check all the accessible propane or natural gas plumbing using an electronic gas detector to find even the smallest leaks. Once we have verified there are no leaks we start any combustion appliance and check the exhaust path for back-drafting and the presence of carbon monoxide. We prepare the house by setting up a worst case situation where the house could possibly be under a negative pressure. We do this by closing all windows and doors, then turning on all bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen exhaust fans. If a negative pressure exists with respect to the outside, then the appliance could potentially back-draft and pull exhaust gases back into the home or business. If we detect back-drafting we will alert the occupants immediately. If there is no back-drafting we then use our Monoxer III to detect the amount of carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases.
